Dude, I resemble your description. I went to Hawaii for my conference last week, and sat next to a plague carrier (not that you actually have to sit next to them to catch their diseases on a plane). By the end of the week, I started to get a little sinus congestion. Being an optimist, I said to myself, "Hey, it's just the sulfur dioxide fumes you sniffed at Kilauea yesterday, it's not really a cold." Then I got onto the plane back to the mainland (redeye flights suck rocks). When I hit the ground in Denver, my chest was a little constricted. Paranoid me said, "Nah, can't be chemical pneumonia!". After the 4 hour layover in Denver and the 2.5 hour flight to Pasco, I was totally exhausted. Then I had to go over to my friend's house for Easter dinner. The fever started around midnight on Monday, and raged all day, along with coughing and sinus drainage. Tuesday morning my throat was severely painful so I gave up and went to "Doc in the Box", thinking I have strep throat; there I was told I might have strep (too early to tell even with a throat culture), but I definitely already had a sinus infection, ear infection (who knew?) and bronchitis. Expectorant with codeine is my friend, along with the two Z-pack antibiotics.
