I feel you, my brother--and wish to share the perfect--and entirely sustainable--solution to this problem:

No X-box.

There is NOTHING I need to do on an X-box badly enough to pay the price for putting up with Microsoft's arrogant, self-serving approach to its own indentured customers. My next laptop will be a Mac, which will mean NO MORE MICROSOFT OPERATING SYSTEM, permanently putting an end to the countless hair-pulling outrages I have suffered at their hands in that department too. If we're serious about our objections to Microsoft's assumption that we exist to serve THEM, we should be ready to vote with our wallets and hand them a Microsoft free world. If we're not prepared to exercise that power,,,the complaints are therapeutic, but academic at best.

Before console gaming owned the world, people had actual--not virtual--lives. It really COULD be that way again... Just sayin'... :]

Peace out.
