Pictures and Words
I’m a firm believer in graphic representation. When I first put my old site together, I decided to go with a pictures-only navigation style. I wanted exploring my site to be an intellectual experience, where the user would learn about the site (and me, by extraction) by interacting with images from my life.
Obviously, this is somewhat hard to work with, but it was good for me. With the move to WordPress for blogging, the old site had to be retired, so that everything would work smoothly.
But today I figured out how to bring the pictures back, so I did. The old site is still here, just hiding in that little room in back. And the gateway pages still work the same way. Someday, I’ll figure out how to change the colors on the front page (all the graphic elements are just that, graphics), so that the transition isn’t as jarring.
Well, I like it, anyway. Even if Joe doesn’t.
