Again
I’ve heard somewhere that to love is to risk all.
While I certainly don’t love The Mariners, I do like them a lot. And as such, today I subject myself yet again to the chance that they are going to get their collective asses kicked tonight on the baseball field.
They are at home again for an 11 game homestand. My goal for the next 11 days is a simple one.
1 win.
We’ll build from there. I’m still wearing my Tacoma hat as I type this. The Mariners hat sits, empty and alone, to my right. In a few hours, I must gear up, and begin my trek to the ballpark. Let us hope that it will not be in vain.
I’ll probably wear the Mariners hat. But it’s a close call.
Bucky Jacobsen was held out of last night’s AAA All-star game, because he was expected to be called up today. This is good news. The bad news is that he plays two positions.
First Base and DH.
For him to see play today, he must occupy one of those two positions, replacing one of the fan favorite players who is currently hitting sub .250, John Olerud or Edgar Martinez. My bet is on Edgar, but Olerud will probably get his fourth day off in a row.
Because that’s how Bunting Bob thinks.
Of course, he (Bucky) will probably be a very productive hitter out of the three hole, and play every day. Just like Jolbert Cabrera. Also like Cabrera, he’s not on the 40 man roster. Which means that someone has to leave that roster, in order for him to put on a major league uniform. And also that I can’t pick him up, to replace the roster spot vacated for him on my roto team.
My bet is on an aging fan favorite, currently hitting under .250 .
