Two shots, no ducks

I’ve been looking forward to tonight all week, not only to play some cards, but just to unwind. Work has been very stressful, and I haven’t been sleeping well at all.

But that’s got very little to do with Poker. What brings us, together, today.

After some brief confusion on timing, Julz, the Ricker, and I cross the water. Further confusion ensues when I try to do something nice for her, but then fail miserably, due to a lack of stock. Luckily, dinner still works out fine, and we get tonyawinter some accurate directions.

Instead of the buzzsaw tonight, I muster in next to Julz on one side, and Rich on the other. Delaina is blinded in to our table, which is then rounded out with Andrew Bean, Joanna, and Patrick. Play is slow, with no real hands to speak of. I can tell it’s not going to be my night, but I can read the Bean pretty well by now, and I know when he’s in.

And I had him nailed. Andrew and Patrick are both drawing the same hand, and pair the board. Which is fine, save that I’ve got a nice pair sitting in the hole. I draw them in, the pot goes up, and we reveal after we take Patrick’s money from his side of the table into the center.

Meanwhile, at the other table, comes the best flop and turn we’ve ever seen. And through the magic of digital goodness, now so can you.

did I do that? Two small pair, of nines. That Ace down looks pretty good right now.

But Bean gets the last laugh, as his Ace-Queen beats Patrick’s Ajax standing, but my pairs aren’t strong enough to withstand the inevitable Queen on the River. Drag. Which is what AB does to most of my chips, and all of Patrick’s. One down, and I’m on life support. Julz takes me out on the next hand, and then the tables consolidate, leaving us good for the aftergame.

Again, I’ve come prepared and ready to go. But since this one happens early, it’s not the big buy-in I was prepared for, but a smaller, more manageable one. I repay a longstanding debt to the Dancey, as well as loan some clay units to Julz for the evening. I have to get some more units from the bank, but I do manage to win back most of my outlay.

And then, of course, there’s this

did I do that? why yes, yes you did.
