Work
It has been 10 days since I have set foot in my office.
This morning, I woke up form a sound sleep at 12:30 AM, ready to shower and head in.
I’ve been checking my business e-mail,and today is just going to suck. There are fewer people, fewer resources, and more problems waiting for me than when I left .
Things that we believed to be done were not, things that were supposed to have been shipped on time were shipped far later than they were supposed to be, and things that were supposed to be orderd have not been. I get cryptic e-mails from co-workers, half remembered conversation threads, and general wackiness in my inbox.
Oh, yeah. Almost forgot. My computer sucks ass. It gave me all manner of problems while on the road, and last night I read that our IT guy, the one person who knows how to resurrect this Frankenstien hodgepodge with properly applied voltage, is on vacation this week, just out of the blue.
On the bright side, my beer is right where I left it, and tastes just as good as it did when I left. So there’s a few more nights of self-medication in my future. And Opening Day is very, very close. Plus, the T-birds are in the playoffs. So there’s an off chance of another Seattle Championship this year. I reconfirmed the suitability of a new apartment that my friend Jen looked at for me, and the landloard/property manager is a cool guy.
On the whole, life is okay. I’ll post again in 12 hours, and let you know if that changes.
