Sick = Suck
I have pretty bad allergies, and living here in the Northwest has never been the best for my respiration. At times, it is so bad that I literally cannot get out of bed in the mornings.
Tuesday was one of those days, and when it became apparent that I would not make it in to work on time , I went the whole distance, and decided to not come in at all. My boss understands, and we got everything shifted around so that the bases were covered.
As often happens, I felt better in the afternoon than in the morning. Figuring the allergy attack to be the culprit, I attended Tuesday night’s M’s game, and had a few drinks with a friend from out tof town.
MISTAKE!
What I had taken for allergies was in fact the onset of a cold, and I did two of the things that I in particular should not do during that period. Go outside, and drink normally.
Normally being a completely relative term.
So yesterday, I came in to work. Not because I felt better, but because I needed to. And how, since my peer-manager, my intern, my assistant, and my former assistant were all out of the office for various reasons. Worse yet, Tony was out sick, pretty much feeling the way that I do.
My headache yesterday was bad. really bad. I actually had to take some >brand name painkiller<, something I am loathe to do. My general health was bad enough that I made provisions to leave work if necessary, and my comfort food lunch was on my mind for the rest of the afternoon. I took it easy last night, and was able to get something approaching a normal amount of sleep. But today, I still feel like eh. Tony and I are here, but mianly because no on else is in the office. (our boss is up in Canada, on "business".) We've warned our VP (the next in line) that we'll most probably be leaving early, so as not to spread the love. It helps that both of us come in insanely early, and will have put in 9-10 hours by the time we leave. Slackers, we are.
