Fear and loathing in Century City
As threatened, here is another selection of 30 first lines from the first 30 songs to come up on my digital player.
Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to put titles and artists to the following using only your wits and cunning (no internet searches).
The challenge: My music collection makes most people cringe in fear. At this time, approximately 25% of my cds have been scanned into digital formats. I own a lot of compilations, soundtracks, cover tunes, odd singles and b/sides. The odds are high that the songs below may indeed contain re-mixes and samplings of other songs.Alternately, some compositions are over 70 years old. I will accept any correct combination of song and artist for a given lyric, as long as I can verify at as recognizably the same song.
The reward: Points, points , points. Not only have the answers been carefully scored by the wizards here at bhagwanx.com, but bonus points are available for especially correct answers, and the judges have certain criteria which can reward even more.
The catch(es): You now have 9 days, ending June 22nd, 2006. Every correct guess reduces the number of remaining days by one. There is a 50 point song amongst the choices. There is a 1 point song amongst the choices. There is no limit on bonus points.
The payoff: Every correct guess earns a pithy saying or story from the great and powerful Bhagwan. They say that every picture tells a story; well for me, every song has an encyclopedia.
Besides, it’s fun.
