Back to life, back to reality
Always the best part of any Rocky showing.
This is it.
Really, I mean it.
Started out today at 183, after a Friday weigh-in of 180. I’ve hit that area where I’m going to be back and forth pretty much forever, so I’ve reached the end. This run through will be my last.
Until it isn’t, of course.
All told, I’ve lost a grand total of 15 lbs since mid-November, and I’ve been “on” the whole time. I have my wacky maintenance plan, and it’s free to tone/shape/enjoy masochism for as long as I want. there are even three freinds on this cycle with me, one of which is on exactly the same menu (hence the addition of eggs to my regimen, after an absence of nearly 7 months).
This weekend was a lot of fun. I spent time with an old (and new) freind, one I’ve not “seen” in nearly 20 years. I received the greatest compliment in recent meory, and it makes me warm inside to think of it.
“You really haven’t changed at all”
Of course, I have, but they were talking about my face. It’s good to know that Grown-up Scott (for that is very much who I have become in the last 12 months) still has some of the Kid’s traits.
And $76 worth of M shirts from the thrift store says that I’m in pretty good shape for 2007. Now, I just have to figure out how to excercise without gaining massive amounts of muscle. Since what I want to do more than anything is lift weights.
I really enjoyed lifting. It suited my personality. Lifting is about besting yourself. Over and over again. You have limits. you know what they are, and then you push and push and finally pass them, setting new limits.
Really, it’s a lot like the process I took on in the last 280 days.
Also, it does not involve running. My lungs burn every time I try to catch the bus, and they don’t stop until hours have passed. This is a Bad Thing ™, and it’s something that swimming and cycling and lifting will not push on me. Since golf also has a similar reward curve, I may give that a run this year.
yes, I do know that this will involve buying more clothes.
There will most probably be pictures this week. If I’ve truly reached the end, then the 30″ waist I measured this morning (including the “extra” 3 lbs) means that I can have the suits taken in as well. Since it’s “free”, no real reason not to.
