Checking in
An amazingly fun weekend full of booze, fantastic food, and situps.
Lots and lots of them.
Started working out again last week, when I saw that I’d hit the “second week wall” at around 176. Since that was 6 lbs from my start point, I declared victory on Monday, and went from there. Still lost another 2 lbs with 80+ situps a day, and a bottle of wine (or more) a night on Wednesday and Thursday, with Friday’s victory celebration at Daniel’s Broiler carrying over through the weekend.
That company sponsored food was just too good to waste. I’m here to type at you, Banana Fudge Bread pudding is an acceptable breakfast, two days running.
But I digress. Holding steady at 178-179, with the standard dehydration disclaimer. Pants all fit fine, and in fact the beltless fashions I currently sport have an unexpected bonus. I apparently was walking around with my fly undone for most of yesterday, and nobody noticed at all.
Good times.
Decided to take the long way home once I got into the U-district, and a swing through Walgreens netted me 5 t-shirts for $10, and some off-brand tic-tacs that aren’t half bad.
But the real bonus to the evening was running into my old co-worker (and friend) Dan Kaufman. Dan’s been kicking around the game industry for some time, and is an author, artist, and playwright to boot. He has a very distinctive profile, and looking up while in Half Price Books (Buffy Season 7, SCORE), I spotted and called him over. My guerrilla assault on the racks was a lot better with someone to talk to at the time, and I picked up some amazing stuff to go along with the Whedon fun.
Including a $16 stack of clearance comics worth about $100 (conservative estimate, since I have to get the annoying stickers off them), including the entire Sientkewitcz run of New Mutants.

That new credit card’s getting a workout, but not so much that two weeks of vegan won’t help it as well.
All for now. More work to do here in the mines. Another 12-13 looms, and I need to put on my armor again.
