Twilight time

This is it, the last ever post from the Fortess of Decrepitude.

In the past two years, I’ve done a lot of living in this space.

In the past two days, I haven’t thought much about it, other than, “I have too much stuff.”

All packed up, it doesn’t seem like so much now.

I will be posting from work for the next few days, so don’t expect timely updates to the main site. The office machines don’t like it very much, and will not accept my passwords on a regular basis. The LJ will be accessible and updated as I am able.

I’ve scrubbed, stacked, mopped, wiped, disinfected, stretched, strained, and otherwise prepared for a move sometime this week. In roughly 15 hours, I will hand over money orders in exchange for keys. I will then make my way downtown for happy hour, most likely at either Contour or the Owl and Thistle. All Seattlites are welcome to join me/us; so far only Delaina Dancey and I are “confirmed” for moving things afterwards tonight. I’m also not entirely convinced that I shouldn’t just pay someone to come, load everything up, and unload at the new place. In the long run, that would be hella more efficient, and less of a strain on me achin’ back.

Basically, tonight is clothes and needed things. Furniture can wait until the weekend, and most likely will. Everything is disassembled and prepared for a fast load, and if pickup trucks show up during the weekdays (I do not have a high degree of confidence that we could pull off a full U-haul move after work hours, but I have also not discounted it), we can load out the following, and in this order.

The disassembled and very sectional waterbed

The Futon and the Chair

The desk and large monitor (having previously packed out the boxes in the office through other means)

The TV.

The Bookcases (and the dozen or so boxes nestled around them)

My couch. The couch is a new addition, and actually resides upstairs in my Landlord’s office. I have it mapped out as to where it will fit and stick in the new space.

The remainder of my possessions can all ride in cars, including the electronics. Also, the following things will be used in the new home, but really have no “need” for me right now.

A kickass DVD player, which will be modded to multi region play before the week is out

A pioneer home theater receiver and speakers, and pre-constructed Monster Cables to drive each one.

A 13 inch color tv (no remote), formerly used as a seperate game monitor. works fine, just don’t need it.

A Panasonic VCR (with remote). I have absolutely no use for this item other than as a clock, being possessed of the Tivo (s), and soon to be possessed of either the Comcast HD DVR, or the apparently on sale Series Three box.

And in the land of servicable, but not in service,

A very kickass Pioneer DVD player (with remote), which needs its laser adjusted (will not read discs)

A Sony VCR (no remote) that has lousy recording status (streaky, pooping), and an intermittent power supply (Don’t ask)

An old school JVC multidisc player, which is prone to eating discs (another very long story)

The new place will be a Temple of Technology, where only the strong will survive. I even found myself pricing 67″ sets today, for no reason other than they were there.

Mine works fine for me, though.

Peace out. See you all on the flip side.

I miss this place already.
