The weekend that was

I spent it around the house, not in front of the computer. as such, no updates for you.

Until now, that is.

Friday night, I shut myself in and moved boxes, having successfully navigated the Metro Bus system with ice cream-like soy products in tow.

Yes, it was my “weekend off”

Saturday, I arose to await the Coming of the Cable guy, who enabled me to view Major League Baseball in glorious HD.

And it was good.

I also watched Basketball, NASCAR, and several television shows in HD. It might be the longest time I’ve spent in front of a television doing pretty much nothing in months, if not years.

I also started a puzzle, and cooked using my stove. It’s almost like I live here. I haven’t felt like this about a place since, oh, I don’t know when.

The house is not yet up to full bhagwan usability yet; I’ll need a wireless router and a tablet PC before I’ll be “happy” with the setup. Also, I’m going to have to make a hard call about whether or not to run 50 feet of coaxial cable into my office (which I already own), or “go without” semi-live TV in this space until later this summer, when I go slingbox and also upgrade my telephone to make use of the same setup.

Also on Saturday morning, I decided that I had worked hard enough during the week, and that I would not work on an office (paid) project. this means I’m “behind” another couple of days, but it’s not a fatal delay. plenty of other things have priority, and I’ll be able to move it out to a contractor on Monday with minimal prep.

I picked up an interesting book at the Dreaming, and spent time with Subversive Puppet Show and Jon-El. In the company of the Latter (and the always entertaining Shane Small), I watched Hot Fuzz for the third time. Having achieved a state of “not fallen asleep”, I returned home to drink more rum and get on my way to that special place.

(I should point out that all of the rum I drank this weekend was very delicious. I also drank a bottle of Monkey wine).

Today, I finished most but not all schlepping of boxes here in the Temple. All rooms a re usable and open for business. The office is a bit crowded with books. Or rather, boxes of books, since I have determined that I can either shelve the collected Games and supplements, or my paperback/hardback books with available shelving. I have a backup plan, but I will wait until Friday to implement it. Comics are more or less a lost cause, since I have not been able to effectively shelve them for well over 20 years. However, I have a cunning plan

Speaking of boxes, ifn’ any of you Seattle folk what are moving in the next few weeks want boxes, I’ve got them. Having unpacked all that I reasonably expect to for the near future, what’s here in my hallway is yours for the taking. They’ll all be recycled next weekend if not claimed, to make room for the new shelves I’ll need to pick up to unpack further. Let me know if you’d like some.
