MCU Commentary Rewatch: Iron Man 2

Movie #3 in my MCU Commentary rewatch is 2010’s IRON MAN 2.

I was actually looking forward to watching THOR next, but the release calendar must be obeyed.

Maybe I’ll load up and do a third movie later on today, but there’s DC television shows to watch, and other technological feats to complete.

Spoiler alert, I’ve listened to this commentary track before, but it’s been some time.

Commentary insights:

Favreau talks nonstop for two hours about the mechanics of filmmaking, and it’s pure joy to listen to.

Having heard it before, I didn’t learn much. But he breaks down scenes, talks about the divides between CGI and practical shots, and how to plot a blockbuster.

This was the third MCU film, and they’re only just starting to understand what that will entail. Favreau clearly knows the Avengers movie is coming, but how and what are still a mystery to him.

One neat bit is that He grew up across the street from the World’s Fair site, in the exact building on which the movie ends. Go Figure.
