Media Trip Report – THE NEWSROOM (Season 1, episodes 4-6)

TL:DR; (harsh word) you, Aaron Sorkin.

I have been openly weeping at my desk for the last two hours. I know why, and I’m not going into it in this space. But if the series ended here at episode six I would watch them all over and over again, chasing language and syntax, watching faces, and in particular marveling at how these scripts bring out the absolute best in these performers.

I’ve listened to every episode of THE WEST WING WEEKLY podcast, and proudly wear its pin on my satchel when I’m out and about. That show took me to high highs and very low lows, and always watch at least a few minutes of it whenever it’s on TV.

A quick internet search tells me that there were a few podcasts about THE NEWSROOM as well, and in addition to going back through Season 1 listening to commentary tracks, I’m going to go through ten or so episodes of those meta commentaries as well before I’m ready to move on to the second season.

(Harsh Word) you, Aaron Sorkin. I was not fucking prepared for this, and I’m very happy that none of you warned me about it.
