Media Trip Report – HIGH FIDELITY

(Originally published on facebook, November 23, 2024)

TL;DR Another supposed classic to cross off my list.

Trip Report: Takes a long time to get where it needs to be. In this (very) dark comedy masquerading as a love story, the supporting cast is far more sympathetic than Cusack, who saved all his best lines as a co-writer until the last 20 minutes.

However, the slow revelations from and about our very unreliable narrator work, as does his inability to fucking listen to the answers given by his not-so-evil exes to his early mid-life crisis questions.

Like SAY ANYTHING, this is almost an anti-Cusack movie, which is borne out by the extensive special features on the disk.

You’ll note far fewer comments on this one than I usually leave. The movie grabbed me and pulled me in, even when I didn’t like it.

YMMV, of course.
