M’s lose again

These recaps really are a form of blogs anyway, so I’m going to post them both places for now.

May 18th
Roll call: Scott Magner, Mindy Sherwood-Lewis, Miguel Tejada, Raul Ibanez, Ichiro’s bat.

Final Score: Orioles 7, Mariners 2: Roof = open

This is another one of those games where you just shake your head and sigh. Mindy and I get an early start, and enjoy some fine batting practice whitle catching up.

We should have stopped there. Comparing notes, it turns out we both kept score last time Freddy was on the mound. Mindy says this is a sign, and states for the record that Freddy will win tonight.

Freddy, however, doesn’t get the memo, and loses the game in two innings. The first two, in which he throws 50+ pitches.

Meanwhile, in Atlanta, the player the Mariners traded for Freddy throws a complete game, no hitter, in 117 pitches. To become the 7th player in National league history, and the 18th overall, to finish a game in 27 batters.

In other words, Perfect. The stadium stood up and cheered when it happened. During the pre-game warm-up, no less. Seattle still remembers.

Inluding the two run jack he serves up in the sixth. poor, poor Freddy.

Tonight does mark the return of Raul Ibanez Mojo. on a 3-2 pitch, i mention casually how” something’s got to happen here.”

Something does, and Raul circles the bases for his 7th of the year. Yay Ibanez.

Bret Boone celebrates his return to the lineup wityh his 7th as well, but that all the scoring for the non-visitors.

We suck. Except for Ichiro, who takes the streak to 16, with yet another multihit game.
Yay, Ichiro.

Record = Scott 6-9, Mindy 2-2. Freddy, 1-3. Keeping score, 1-1.
