cool

So a webcomic I’ve become enamored with has reached a major milestone.

The author/publisher got tired of hearing complaints about infrequent updates, and laid it all on the ine for the general populace. Paraphrased, he said don’t bitch at me, I have to make a living too. He then exhorted his faithful to pony up a dollar , two dollars, or whatever, to support the site. If his annual salary was met, he’d quit his job and retire full time to artistry.

Now that’s cool. A fiscal nightmare, but cool. He got a major boost when Steve Jackson plugged the movement. No matter what you may hear, or what people tell you, Steve Jackson is one cool frood. I’ve dealt with him in a number of different roles over the years, and he is a man of integrity, conviction, and a little bit of a party animal.

Yay, Steve.

Well, he (the artist) did it. And since then, the comics have gotten better. Go figure.

Part of his “pitch” was the fact that he has something like 50K daily readers.

I’ve probably got 8, 9 infrequent fans. So I’m thinking you’ll all have to put up more than a dollar to support my life of leisure.

Or help me climb back into the bottle, which may cost a bit more in the long run.

Sarcasm off.
