Moneyball

I just read this controversial best seller from cover to cover.

While not the best baseball book I’ve ever read, it is a typical accounting of “the Club,” and I love reading about the career path I didn’t take.

The more of these books I read, the more convinced I am that I might not have made it as a ballplayer. There’s just too much crap that you have to take to make it to the top.

However, I do need to praise the author’s (it’s not Billy Beane, despite what you may have heard) courage and honesty in pointing out the Emperor’s lack of clothes.

Because he’s as naked as the day he was born, and the insiders don’t want to hear anything about it.

Pity. Because a second generation insider is currently running the Mariners. And not all that well, as it turns out.
