Game 45
Indians 5, Mariners 7
I need heart pills. I’m sure of it.
I can’t take too many more games like this.
I can’t resolve me wanting snipers on nearby buildings, with contingency plans in case Bunting Bob calls the bullpen to get Shiggy, with my desire to have the Mariners win ballgames.
Or Jamie Moyer, for that matter. If the Mariners really want him to waive his no-trade clause, this is the way to do it.
It bears mentioning that Randy “lets not” Winn let three really important balls drop in front of him in center field, but busted his ass to go and get one that meant nothing in left. Also, Hiram Bocachica climbing the wall in center field to retrieve yet another Eddie Guardado mistake is significant.
Scoreboard totals are correct, but horribly, horribly wrong. Hasegawa blows a save, picks up a win. Guardado is handed a save, nearly blows it,and then shouts profanities after it’s in the books.
Haven’t we traded him, yet?, Seriously, he and jughead need to take their temper tantrums somewhere else. I’m tired of paying to see them. So is the empty seat, but that’s a rant for another day.
Game MVPs = Bucky Jacobsen and Hiram Bocachica. Bucky was on base four times tonight.
4.
His line is positively Bondsian, with an OPS of 2.144. If he can get enough AB, he might contend for several top honors, including ROY.
Wouldn’t that be interesting.
Justin Leone was on three times, but twice on error. Theirs, not his, although the official scorer and I are gong to go rounds very, very soon. I’ve got both reach and weight on him, he should go down fast.
Can someone please, please tell me why Scott Spezio and Willie Bloomquist were in the lineup tonight? We just cut 5 million in salary that hits better than these two, and we have Dave Hansen and Jolbert Cabrera (both hitting over .300, in case anyone forgot) riding the pine as “roleplayers.”
The only roleplayer that ever made a living playing games every 5 days was me, and I did NOT make the league minimum, let alone the relative “chump change” those two receive.
The SS Spezio needs to be scuttled, and soon. He and Edgar need to sail off into Seattle’s sunset , and let the kids play.
Howard Lincoln says that payroll will not be reduced next year, and he’s probably right. But I think that will be because of all the ridiculous contracts we’ll be buying out.
Including the ones issued to Bill Bavasi, and Bob Melvin.
Bring me Jay Buhner and Dan Rohn. Or better yet, why not hand the job to a man that has already done it.
Because really, how bad could it be?
And that’s a positive post, ladies and gentlemen.
