Game 53
Twins 3, Mariners 4
Well what do you know. M’s win
Esteban and I arrive at the ball park with plenty of time to do what we do best.
Drink up, Me hearties!
From our most excellent vantage in the Hit it Here Cafe, we watch the tribute to the now retiring Ancient Mariner, and also watch him take a 2-1 pitch back, back, WAAAAAAY BACK. Good bye, baseball.
Two batters later, we see Edgar’s heir apparent do exactly the same thing. GOOOOO BUCKY!
And that would be all of the scoring for the night. At least, on the Mariners side. 10 hits total, but only 4 of them count.
Oh, and then there is Ichiro. 3-5,baby. Red hot smokers, all. Very nearly 4-5, but sometimes, the glove man wins. Ichiro even tries to reward my diligent attendance with a Corey Koskie home run ball, which had previously bounced off both the second deck in right field, and also some Twins fans in Section 109. Unfortunately, it falls 8 inches short of my glove (s), and goes to the young man in front of me(us).
Ah, well. It’s the thought that counts.
Oh, yeah, and 3-5. GOOOOOO Ichiro!
Meche pitches extremenly well, with 8 strong innings and two hits, two walks. both hits left the yard, but that’s not really so bad.
Now, the HR given up by Putz in relief, that really , really sucks. Too bad he’s not an overpaid veteran, so we can cut him for a loss, or trade him away for nothing.
Mariners win. Finally.
