Game 58

Sometimes, it’s good to get up and get around. This is what I did today, sitting instead on the opposite side of the stadium, in a fine seat made possible by Rick Pfiel. He and his father were using my seats, and I got to spend a delightful afternoon in the company of Yankee fans, and others.

Oddly, not a lot for the Yankees to cheer about today, even though all of their runs were meaningful. Because for the first time in forever, they do not come from behind to win.

However, they certainly had a chance to. With a big inning in the offing, Melvin somehow refuses to pinch hit for the submerged SS Spezio. As expected, the good ship goes down with a whimper, much like a kicked dog.

Leaving the bases loaded for Miguel Olivo, who once again proves that the Mariners did well in trading their number #1 pitcher. An amazing series of runs scored later, the Mariners pull off a Surprise Victory.

Capitalized now, because of its utter insignificance.

Mariners win, but will be eliminated from pretty much everything within the next two weeks. No miracle on grass for us, I’m afraid. On the bright side, I don’t have to shell out $3000 for playoff tickets.

Sigh.
