Oh the things that you’ll find

When looking for other things. Knowing that I had “seen” it in the last month, I went looking in my office for the treatment on book 3. I found it, along with 1/3 of an “Analog” story that went nowhere (also from about 10 years ago, though teh other 2/3 have definitely gone a-walkin’), and something I thought had been lost entirely.

A completed, very tight second draft of a sword-and-sorcery short story, which was screaming to be anthologized or expanded. I was never happy with the middle, since I was writing it to a piece of art, and forcing the action. That art is no longer relevant, so now I can take the 5K words and push them into something sellable.

In 1996, I considered this my best work. After ten years as a working editor, I see it as a great opportunity for improvement.

Guess these white hairs mean something after all.
