Damn you, Chapter 21!

I have a problem.

I just realized that Book One ends in either C.19 (68.5K words) or C.21 (72.5K). It is for the most part centered on the spiritual struggle of the protagonist as he searches for hidden truths.

The next “year” of his life (let’s call it Book 1.5) is a completely different story altogether, and is far more action oriented piece as a confident, secure Prot. uses and develops his considerable powers, gains allies, and then journeys home to face his past.

What is now Book Two is the result of that year’s growth, an epic escalation towards an inescapable confrontation that changes everything.

So, I’m done. It’s pencils down time for Book One, and first readers will have it tomorrow. I’m going to prepare another outline, and a new folder in the work file. I even have a title. Go figure.

Hopefully this will put an end to the disconnect I’ve been having with the period between C. 21 and C.22, and again before C.23. There’s too much “empty” in there, and it’s not at all to my liking.

But hey, don’t take my word for it…

I’ve had a very productive day otherwise, jamming to a new soundtrack mix I worked up this morning. Meal #4 will be in about an hour, then it’s time for a nice bottle of South African Chardonnay.

And some loud, explosion-filled movie violence. I think I’ve earned it.
