A year of war
One year ago today, I started playing World Of Warcraft.
At this time, I have the following “active” characters, none of whom I’ve really “touched” in a month.
Level 60 Tauren Druid
Level 42 Dranei Shaman
Level 35 Undead Warrior
Level 29 Human Priest
Level 25 Troll Rogue
level 24 Blood Elf Mage
Level 16 Orc Warlock
Level 15 Dwarven Rogue
Level 11 Orc Hunter
Level 6 Orc Hunter
I have deleted about 4 characters. I’ve been thinking about not renewing my account, as I have found a lot of other things to do with my life of late. However, I noticed just now that I am paid up through the month of October, and the next expansion has been announced.
So, my dilemma is as such. I have derived value from the game far in excess of the $$ I have spent on it. At my current subscription rate, I need only play 15 hours a month out of the available 720 to derive “value” from my account. Pretty sure I can squeeze that in, as it’s far less than I spend on even an average trip to the Ballpark, and far less than I have spent int he last month.
On “other things to do with my life.”
In fact, although I’ve had one hell of a July/August to date, it could have paid for a bit more than an equivalent experience in Azeroth.
And I’ve still paid bills, and been a generally responsible individual. All In all, I feel pretty good about maintaining the account.
Just don’t expect to see me very active in the near future, or as active as I have been in the past.
Life, it’s bigger…
