And today

I’m now officially halfway done, at least with the contest portion of the book. I fully expect to write somewhere between 80 and 100K words before this book is “done”, and the possibilities for these characters is pretty good.

I’ve done a lot of research in the last few days, filling in the gaps of my knowledge, and making plans for the second half of the piece.

Here’s a few of the references I’ve picked up.

The Two Cities: Medieval Europe 1050-1320 (Malcolm Barber, 1992 Rutledge Press)

The Crisis of Church and State 1050-1300 (Brian Tierney, 1964 University of Toronto press)

The Timetables of History (By Bernard Grun, based on the works of Werner Stein, 1991 Simon and Schuster)

And the gem of the set, The Perfect Heresy (Stephen O’Shea, 2000 Walker Publishing Company), the subject matter of which completely rocked my world last week, and changed the direction I was heading in entirely.

I did a lot of other stuff this weekend, hence the lessened output. Still ahead of the game , but Next weekend will be more of the same. Going to try and find time for typing this week, but the work, it must intrude.
